This morning I did not do my sun salutation. This morning at 6 am, I danced in my room with a small burning candle on. No, I didn’t come home from a nightclub, and no, I hadn’t drunk or smoked anything, I just let myself be carried away by a little guide found on one of my Facebook groups. It was just great!
Everyone is talking about the importance of the morning routine, and I myself had already written an article about it. A moment, at dusk, for yourself, a moment to give your body and mind time to wake up gently towards the more active energies of the day.
This group in question is a group of women, a group of modern day guides. It is one that speaks for the feminine, the masculine, and works to bring out the union of the two, inside and outside of us. A group which allures inspired and aspired women to exchange messages in an authentic, warm and free way and walk together towards tomorrow.
Throughout the month of January, we did our morning practice together. We would meet at 6:15 am on the group and through our smartphones we’d share our awakening, our little morning routine.
This morning, surprise, surprise, we weren’t sitting cross-legged, breathe and let ourselves be guided by the melodious path and the enchanting words of our little guides. This morning, we were up and we danced to gentle music, which later on became much more lively with us wiggling like we were in a nightclub with the benefit of being fresh like summer roses.
You wake your body up very, very gently. You listen to your body, let yourself be guided by it. You answer to it: What is my body asking, does it need a stretch there, oh yes there for sure, and then there, and again there …
We were all alone, in the dark, the music took over us, the movements followed one another, without logic, without a goal, it was total freedom. A large space was created both inside our body and around it. Wow, how we let go, got carried away …
Afterwards the music became gentle again like at the beginning, we slowed down our movements, came back down to our centeres. We put one hand on our belly and another on our heart, we felt our bodies, we felt the energy. We felt the life that lives in each cell of our bodies, from the toes to the fingertips, we felt life, we are life! Wow-wow!
There is not only yoga in life and there is still so much left to discover, to experience!
This morning I remembered how much I loved to dance. I hadn’t danced since I changed my life. And you know what? I may have done all that, but despite the stress, I’m going to start dancing again.
Wednesday evenings at the Shanti Club, we will dance to the moon that speaks to us. I probably make us sound as if we are modern day fairies or witches but whatever, let’s try it. And then there is also the 5 Rhythms dance that I have heard so much about, but had never tested, so now I will.
In the meantime, if you come to my wellness workshops, whether you are young or old, don’t be surprised if I put on some music and invite you to a little improvised sway, it’s for your good, as always.
With love.
