I received my teachings from the Sivananda Vedanta lineage and strictly follow its wisdom in applying the following 5 yoga principles.

You will not only discover and build your understanding of traditional Hatha Yoga postures during this introductory program, but also learn more about these life principles and how to incorporate them into your daily routine for a more balanced and peaceful life.  

Proper exercise designed to develop the body, mind and spirit. The postures (Asanas) stretch the entire body, toning the muscles, joints, spine and skeletal system. The internal organs, glands and nerves are also greatly benefitted, resulting in overall radiant health.

Yoga teaches us to control the breath in order to enhance vitality and mental clarity via increasing oxygen intake. This calms and clears the mind and increases our life energy for an increased experience of well-being and peace of mind.

Yoga emphasizes the importance of proper relaxation as a way to regulate our energy and create a sense of balance, which enhances our physical and mental health. By learning to relax every muscle in the body, we can rejuvenate the nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace.

Eating simple and healthy foods that are easy to digest has a positive effect not only on the body but also on the mind. Seasonal and local fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds and legumes optimize physical and mental health and foster harmony with the world around us.
